Lip Augmentation

Lip Implants
With fuller, more pronounced results that last longer than most injectable fillers, lip implants are a great option for patients with thinning lips who are looking to enhance their mouth, and improve their pout – permanently.
Because there are several different types of lip implants composed of different shapes and materials, you and Dr. Graivier will discuss which option best suits your needs. The implants can be inserted during a simple procedure performed in about an hour. During the procedure, Dr. Graivier will insert the implant into a small tunnel created in either the upper or lower lip through incisions in the corners of the mouth. After inserting the implants, the incisions will be closed, and you will start the recovery process.
Recovery after this procedure generally takes about a week. After about 10 days, your sutures will be removed. Sutures placed inside the mouth will dissolve within 10 days as well. Your lips may be stiff or numb until the healing process is complete. However, once you have healed from the procedure, you will never again need another injection or surgery to restore your lips to their full, pouty appearance.
Injectables
Injectable lip fillers, though safe and effective, are generally temporary. How long your treatment lasts depends on which treatment you choose, and your individual body. ArteFill®
ArteFill® is the first FDA-approved dermal filler that boasts permanent results. ArteFill® can be injected in either the top or bottom lip for fullness that lasts. Over time, the body will break down most injectable lip fillers. ArteFill®, however is composed of a special formula of collagen and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres that provide long-term structural support to keep lips full. ArteFill® will not reabsorb into the body – giving your mouth the permanent fullness you desire.

Restylane®
Restylane® is an injectable filler made from hyaluronic acid, a fully bio-compatible substance already found in the human body. Restylane®, which also reduces the appearance of wrinkles, can be injected into the lips to give patients a pouty bottom lip, or fill out a thin upper lip. Generally, the effects of Restylane® can last about six months. Restylane® has been used in cosmetic treatments worldwide, with high rates of success.
Radiesse®
Radiesse® (Injectable Calcium Hydroxylapatite) is a new injectable, long-lasting product for soft tissue augmentation, including lips. Radiesse® generally yields temporary results, with treatments lasting as long as two years. Radiesse® is composed of several organic compounds including glycerin, carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and water.
BOTOX® Cosmetic
Like other fillers, BOTOX® Cosmetic injections can improve the appearance of the mouth. Although not used in the actual lip structure, it can improve the overall look of the augmented lips. BOTOX® Cosmetic may be injected above the mouth area in the nasolabial folds, smoothing facial lines and wrinkles, and drawing attention to the final results of lip augmentation procedures such as implants or ArteFill® injections. After a BOTOX® treatment, the lips will appear fuller, giving your face an overall more youthful glow. A BOTOX® Cosmetic injection is a short 15- to 30-minute procedure in our office, and it works by relaxing the muscles in the face that create deep wrinkles and furrows.
